Extensive investigation has determined that the Ka’ba-i-Zartosht, known as the 'Zoroaster's Cube‘, Famous square sculpture in southern Iran, has no risk of subsidence.
The cube is one of the most important monuments found in Naqsh-e Rostam, an archaeological site northwest of Persepolis registered as a UNESCO heritage site.
"Preliminary results after analysis indicate that the monument remains firm, and so far no problems associated with a possible subsidence have been found," explained Hamid Fadai, director of the site.
A prolonged dry spell in the region, together with the excessive groundwater floware some of the reasons why the old site may be threatened by subsidence, the report explains.
The 'Zoroaster's Cube‘, Made of limestone stands in front of the mausoleum of Darío II, 46 meters from the side of a mountain, and has a rectangular shape and a single entrance.
